THE TOM WAITS PLAYLIST – CHOOSE YOUR FAVOURITE

waits young waits old

Tom Waits is a divisive character. You either get him or you don’t. Love him or loathe him. Think he is a genius or just some bum with a frog in his throat. Well, I’m in the camp that says the guy is one of the best songwriters ever. He has written some incredible music, variously moving, cool and downright scary. He has transcended music to go into acting as well, and is always an engaging screen presence, especially in Jim Jarmusch’s Down By Law. What follows are my twenty favourite Tom Waits tracks, in no particular order:

Walk Away

Sea of Love

Road To Peace

Long Way Home

  1. Great post, I’d say Jersey Girl. Good of you to highlight his roles in movies, I remember seeing him in Short Cuts years ago.
