KURT COBAIN: FEBRUARY 1967 - APRIL 1994

It has been a remarkable 20 years to the day since the poster boy of grunge killed himself. One of the most important and iconic artists of the last thirty years, and still sorely missed.

  1. Thanks for letting me know.

  2. I saw pictures of his daughter on the internet–wow–she looks amazing. He was a heavy influence on my sons. At least I got to carry on with David Grohl. Foo Fighters is one of my favorite bands.

    • I’ve not seen his daughter, does she look like Kurt? Not to make you jealous but I met Dave Grohl in Coventry Garden, London once. He seemed like a nice guy.

I was never a fan of Kurt Cobain for the simple reason that everyone else at my school was and I needed to be different. Twenty years on I can now acknowledge his musical genius.

What will be interesting is seeing Courtney, Krist, Dave and Frances all getting up on stage together to receive Nirvana’s lifetime achievement award. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for that!

    • I’m the same as you. Was never a fan at the time but can now appreciate how valuable they were, and how musically influential compared with the kind of stuff I was listening to.

  4. Hard to believe it’s been 20 years – I think the MTV unplugged show revealed that beneath all the distortion, there were some great songs in the Nirvana Catalogue. The Bowie cover was equally strong!
