As for her film choice, you may or may not (probably not!) remember that I too reviewed Bachelorette a few weeks back (link below) and wasn’t impressed at all. Well, as fate would have it, Jenny completely disagrees! So now you get to read two reviews offering a balanced opinion, and decide if you want to take the plunge!

Bachelorette
What it’s about: Three friends are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding of a woman they used to ridicule back in high school.

Review: If you’re a fan of Bridesmaids type movies then you’ll like this! Starring Isla Fisher, Rebel Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan and James Marsden “Bachelorette” is about 3 friends who are asked to be bridesmaids to a girl who their peers used to make fun of in school. Due to their tendencies to party, drink and do drugs they ruin her dress, cause havoc and put her wedding day in jeopardy – the night before the big day. Can they recover from this disaster in time for the wedding? Will their friend ever forgive them for potentially ruining the happiest day of her life? This movie is full of familiar faces which makes it an even more enjoyable viewing of an hour and a half of compete mayhem!
Although fairly similar to films like The Hungover in terms of a group of friends getting a bit worse for wear and causing trouble, Bachelorette is definitely a smaller budget film. You can quite easily tell from the storyline, the acting and the overuse of conversations involving cocaine however I wouldn’t say that necessarily made it bad particularly because of the all-star cast. I’m a huge Isla Fisher fan and her character was continually high and drunk throughout the film and she played the part fantastically and very convincingly may I add. I actually watched an interview with her and she said in order for it to look realistic, they span around in circles with ice in their mouth before the scene to feel dizzy and unable to speak properly as you tend to feel when you drink too much. Kirsten Dunst plays the role of maid of honour, Regen, impeccably dressed with incredible organization skills but with a wild side that she seems to suppress throughout the film. I really liked the character of Regen because I felt she portrays how a lot of us feel sometimes. As you get older, it becomes less and less acceptable to act in certain ways – you try and remain cool and collected but there’s always a part of you that wants to let loose and act irresponsibly without having to deal with the consequences and that part of her definitely shone through occasionally.
I personally thought the characters did over-do the drug portion of the film a tad. Especially at the beginning with one in particular keeps saying she wants to do cocaine. Don’t get me wrong, drugs in movies doesn’t bother me at all, but I think it definitely needs to be the right kind of movie to be able to pull it off without sounding tacky and unconvincing. All in all, this isn’t the best made film on earth but it is a lot of fun so I really enjoyed it. It’s light-hearted, laugh-out-loud funny and will definitely make you want to loosen the reigns and have some fun.

Good review Jenny. I liked how distasteful and dirty these girls were, so that’s why when they decided to turn the other cheek and get all nice by the end, it didn’t feel right and felt more like a cheap-shot to end on a sappy note.
This is my first time i visit here. I found so much entertaining stuff in your blog, especially its discussion, I guess I am not the only one having all the enjoyment here! Keep up the good work.
It’d be a great film if Kirsten Dunst wasn’t in it. Man, I hate her!
