A new year and whole batch of new movies to get excited about. Here are some I’ve got my eye on…
The Rover

Synopsis: A loner tracks the gang who stole his car from a desolate town in the Australian outback with the forced assistance of a wounded guy left behind in the wake of the theft.
God’s Pocket
Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christina Hendricks, Eddie Marsan, John Turturro, Richard Jenkins
Directed by: John Slattery
Synopsis: A guy named Mickey gets in over his head when he tries to cover-up the accidental death of his stepson.
Boyhood
Starring: Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke
Directed by: Richard Linklater
Synopsis: The life of a young man, Mason, from age 5 to age 18.
Calvary
Starring: Brendan Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd, Kelly Reilly, Aiden Gillen, Domnhall Gleeson

Synopsis: After he is threatened during a confession, a good-natured priest must battle the dark forces closing in around him.
The Grand Budapest Hotel

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Interstellar

Better Living Through Chemistry

They Came Together

Untitled Terrence Malick Project

Synopsis: Two intersecting love triangles. Obsession and betrayal set against the music scene in Austin, Texas.

The Fault in Our Stars is my ultimate anticipated movie of this year because I’ve been fangirling over the book for a good 6 months. Every time I watch the trailer I cry. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. Sometimes I don’t even have to watch the trailer, I’ll just think about it and cry!!! Apart from that, none others I can think of really.. Apart from the Sin City one now 🙂
The Fault In Our Stars is getting a lot of press at the moment it seems. I don’t think it’s my kind of thing, but I hope it lives up to the hype for you Jenny!
Quite a lineup. Thank you for giving us a preview. “The Rover” and “God’s Pocket” have definitely caught my eye.
Yeah The Rover does sound quite intriguing doesn’t it. And Gods Pocket because it features the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, so that will be interesting.
These all look excellent. The ones that really caught my eye are from Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson & David Wain. A lot to be excited about in 2014. Thanks for posting this.

Nice list! Definitely look forward a bunch of those myself, some I hadn’t even heard of, wow. That Malick project is shaping up real good, his casts are always fantastic. Plus I can’t get enough of Rooney Mara 🙂
Yeah the cast for the Malick movie is insane isn’t it! Mind you, so was the cast for The Counselor recently and that was awful!
Good point, a great cast doesn’t equal a great film. Though these days it’s safe to say that even a weak Malick film is more interesting than what Scott is doing..
I suppose, although neither are my go-to directors really. Malick is a bit arty for me, I hated Tree of Life.
🙂 I know what you mean. Wasn’t big on Tree of Life myself, but I did love To the Wonder. I’d actually say it’s my favorite of his. Have you seen that one?

Sin City and Interstellar for me! And also, X-Men, though that’s not on your list, but it’s probably my most anticipated film of 2014.
Yeah Interstellar and Sin City should be great. I’m not big on super hero stuff so I’m afraid I can’t get excited about X Men, but ‘Boyhood’ by Linklater sounds amazing. Shot over a twelve year period. That’s so cool!
Yes! It’s hard to wrap my head around something twelve years in the making. Should be very interesting!
Wow, I think Interstellar is the only one that would be on my list. Well, and that Malick pic just because of the cast. I don’t really like his films that much, too arty for my taste. 🙂 And I’m hoping Noah will be good, I like the cast and the director.
I think I’m really excited about Richard Linklaters “Boyhood”. It was filmed over twelve years!! So the boy starts off aged 6 and is 18 by the end of the film. How cool is that! Linklater directed the Before Sunrise movies which are amazing if you haven’t seem them?
Of course I’ve seen them and I love the middle one and like all of them. And yeah, I do want to see that one too but I only got to know about it during this year’s Sundance, so I kind of forget it all the time.

Several mentioned really excite me especially The Rover, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Interstellar. Could be a really good movie year!
I do hope so. I just saw that Paul Thomas Anderson has a new movie out with Joaquin Phoenix this year as well, so I’ll be adding that to my list too!

Interstellar is so filled with mystery, I hope the movie blows my mind like Memento did
The Irishman is another movie that I am desperately looking forward to, because it is going to be directed by Martin Scorsese and will feature Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino. Thats a huge bout of nostalgia right there
